Frequently Asked Questions

Can I submit entries from outside the United States?

Entries may originate from any country, but will need to be submitted in English for the judges.

Are other design disciplines allowed?

No, sorry, this competition is for visual communication projects in print, digital or physical environments.

Do I need to be an AIGA member to participate?

No, all are welcome. However, one of the many benefits AIGA members enjoy are lower entry fees, so you may want to consider joining. Membership starts at only $50 per year, http://www.aiga.org/join.

What is the judging criteria?

In addition to overall quality, craftsmanship and execution of design (it is a design competition, after all), entries will be judged on their creativity, innovation and effectiveness in benefiting the Environment, People, Economy and Culture as laid out in the Living Principles framework. Can I enter a project that has already won a different design competition?

Yes. As long as it was published between August 2013 and May 2015.

Can I enter Professional Work that has not been published or entered the market?

Yes, as long as it was work done between August 2013 and May 2015, however you must elect “Conceptual” on your entry form and fill in descriptions for each category. Pro-bono or self-initiated work is acceptable as long as it meets the above requirements.

Can I submit Student Work I did in college even though I have graduated?

Yes, as long as it was conceived, designed and presented while you were a student, and done between August 2013 and May 2015. You must also elect “Student” on your entry form and fill in description for each category.

Can I save my information and then return to continue or edit it?

No. We recommend that you write both briefs and prepare files before you start the registration process.

Can I submit physical samples?

You must submit digital samples of your project, however you are allowed to send physical samples of the project depicted in your digital samples.

Can I get my samples sent back to me?

No. Please only send samples that you do not need returned. If you do not have enough samples, please submit your project only as digital images.

What payment methods are accepted for entry fees?

We can accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and PayPal.

When will selections be announced?

The winners will be announced October 2015.

What if I an unable to send a digital copy of my project?

We require digital samples/photos of each project.

What happens if I win?

We recommend starting with a high pitched squeal and a happy dance. Once that’s done you will be invited to join us for the (Re)design Awards Show in Seattle, WA on October 15, 2015, where your entry will be displayed and you will receive your award. If you are unable to attend, your award will be mailed to you. Your entry will also be displayed here on the (Re)design Awards website.

Do I lose the copyright on my work?

You keep all copyright permissions on your work, however, winning entrants grant AIGA (Re)designAwards the right to use accepted work for reproduction in competition-related publications; on its website; in any exhibition of the competitions’ selections; and for educational and AIGA-related promotional purposes.
